BEDA 2014-2015 APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN!

Just wanted to leave the link here on my blog for those interested in applying to the BEDA program:

http://www.ecmadrid.org/en/programs/beda-program/144-auxiliares-de-coversacion/475-solicitudes

I believe that it will be open until January 31st. GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE APPLYING! If you’re accepted, you’re in for the experience of a lifetime 🙂

Also, on the application there are spaces where it asks for a cell phone number and NIE number from Spain, if you’re applying from anywhere OUTSIDE of Spain, you don’t need to worry about this. But there are some people who apply from other programs in Spain who do have this information available, which is why there is that section in the application.

I love the BEDA program. I feel like my entire blog has kinda been an open love letter to the program. BEDA is one of the greatest things I have ever done for myself. I really can’t recommend this program enough.

Yari, thank you for providing the info about BEDA! Keep ’em coming! I have been researching (and researching and researching) for months now. I’m looking forward to applying in a couple of years after I graduate. I’m super nervous but I get so happy and excited when I read about your experience in Spain. I’m determined to make it happen.

I love your blog and it has actually inspired me to apply for the BEDA program now!
I have a quick question, I sent them an email but have yet to hear back. I was hoping maybe you could help.
At the beginning of the application it mentions, in bracket mind you, provide 2 referees.
Does that mean to also attach two reference letters to the application? Or for them to send it to them, or simply for me to write down two reference contacts?

    I’d appreciate your opinion 🙂

Hi! Love your posts about BEDA- they’re so helpful! On the application, it says we need two “referees”. Should I just provide the contact information for two people or get two recommendation letters?

    Thanks!

Thanks! When do you normally hear back from BEDA after emailing them the application? Any specific tips?

It always changes every year. When I applied two years ago, I hear back in March regarding my interview. My main tip would be to highlight any experience you have in teaching or working with children/students. It really does give you a great advantage. And if you have a good grasp of Spanish, that’s a big advantage as well.
My biggest tip with this whole process, however, is to have a whole lotta patience. You’ll need it, trust me. But it’s all worth it in the end if you’re chosen 🙂

    Hi Yari,

I just stumbled across your blog today and it was been so helpful! Not to mention that I’m always glad to read posts from someone who loves three of my favorite things in the world: Spain, Harry Potter, and John Green. Thanks to you I began filling out my BEDA application. I was wondering if everyone who submits an application gets interviewed of if it was more of a “second round” process. Thank you!

To my knowledge, everyone gets an interview, which I think is great because the interview really allows you to sell yourself and show your enthusiasm for the program 🙂

Hi! Does it matter who the letter of references are from? Thanks!

    Hey Yari,

I just emailed BEDA and they told me that we DON’T need letters of recommendation- all we need is to just supply the contact information of two referees. Figured I would pass the info along to you 🙂

One more question: The application says to submit a CV, but do you think it’s okay to submit a resume instead? I know they’re slightly different, but I’ve never constructed a CV before and I’ve spent a ton of time on perfecting my resume. Thanks!

Hi, I’m sorry I didn’t know where to post a random question, unrelated to this topic but I applied to Beda and am applying to a couple other programs. Experiencing what you have, would you pick a larger city like Madrid again or a smaller one like Granada? i’m having trouble deciding a preference in where I want to teach if I had a choice. Would love to hear your thoughts, thanks!

I personally loved being in Madrid. I never would have considered myself a city gal, but I discovered that I am. Also, it was convenient being near the main airport since one of my goals was to travel often.

I see I have missed the deadline. Would it be a complete waste to send in my resume now?
