Auxiliares started placing first years on Friday. It’s been so great to see where everyone is getting placed. A lot of the people I talk to on expat and facebook got placed in Madrid so I’m very excited that we’ll be close enough that we can hop on the metro for a short ride if we all want to try and arrange a get together 🙂
I will say that it’s going to be very strange to hit the decline button once my placement from them rolls around. I’m so curious to see where I could have ended up in Spain had BEDA not worked out.
EDIT: I would have been in Castilla y León had I done the Ministry program.

I got the email on Friday and I was sooo excited! I’m also in Madrid, so hopefully we can meet up in real life once we are on the other side!

Ahhhh that is so exciting! I’m so happy that a lot of the people I’ve found on wordpress/facebook have been placed in Madrid…should lead to some good times once we’re all over there 🙂

can i ask what number you have? i still havent heard anything.
May 21, 2012 @ 23:54:25
I know the highest inscrita number that I know of that heard from the Ministry today was 531.

Im in the 700s so Im not sure to take this as good news or bad… I guess I will be checking my email constantly these next few days.

I think you will definitely hear from them tomorrow. They got through a great deal of placements today. From around inscrita #150 to #531. I probably won’t know anything from them until the end of this week since my number is 1711.

I got my placement today!!!! 😀
So it turns out that there are a lot of communities that are not taking axiliares this year. they include valencia, navarra, islas canarias, cataluna, castilla la mancha and ceuta y melilla. (i guess that’s one of the reason why they are taking so long to respond, plus all of the people that requested places= bad odds for us). I guess this doesnt affect you(since i read you got accepted through another program, but if you know someone that is still waiting for a response this info might be useful.

Yeah, I knew about the regions that cancelled. Add that to the fact that CIEE cancelled their program entirely, and it’s obvious how much the economic situation in Spain is affecting auxiliares being placed.
CONGRATS on your placement though!!! Where did they end up placing you?
May 23, 2012 @ 00:30:46
I got placed in Madrid! which was my first choice. Cataluna was my second, and Extramadura was my third(didnt know much about it, more of a random choice). I was surprised that I got Madrid since I heard that some people with a lower number than me (i was mid 700s) were not getting their first or second choices. I’m more of a city person, so that’s good that I’m not leaving my comfort zone too much (minus the whole going to a new country all by myself and trying to navigate through unfamiliar terrain).

Congrats! Madrid is amazing!
I applied late for both programs (#4015! ) so I haven’t heard anything… but based on the numbers everyone has been saying, I’m not sure that I will! Trying to be positive though! 🙂 One of my Spanish professors said they reserve a number of spots for Canadians though… Does anyone know if this is true or not? I’m 1 of only a 150 or so Canadians that applied so I still might have a chance! Ojalá!

I’m so excited to be in Madrid, I’ve heard great things about it.
As far as the Canadians in the program, I heard that around 16 got placed yesterday so you might still have a decent chance. Plus, people still have a few days to accept or decline their requests and once those declines start rolling a lot of the people with higher inscrita numbers will start to hear. Just be prepared to find out late compared to most of the other people. I know some people who applied last year and had high inscrita numbers didn’t hear until around July. But I’m crossing my fingers for you!!

Hey all. So i am applying for the 2013-14 school year and my inscirta number is 13_2AXC002455…am I doomed!?
Feb 18, 2013 @ 18:39:37
2455 isn’t the greatest number. Mine was about 1700 last year and I didn’t know about my placement until late June. By that time I had already heard from BEDA and accepted my placement with them. Have you applied to any other programs besides the ministry one?
